Our retail business is a leading energy retailer that supplies electricity and gas to over 6.6 million UK homes and businesses. Not a bad achievement when you consider that we started with only 500,000 customers as recently as 1999.
We’re also in the power generation business. We own and operate a diverse portfolio of oil, gas and coal fired stations, along with wind, hydro and cogeneration plants, which together are capable of producing around 10,800MW - or around 10% of the power used in England and Wales. As a result of our long history of managing and operating our own power stations, we also sell this expertise to other power station owners and operators.
