Our retail business, npower is a leading energy retailer, supplying electricity and gas to over 6.6 million UK homes and businesses. npower is one of the UK's largest suppliers of electricity and gas, combining a solid heritage with the local expertise of household names like MEB, Calortex, Independent Energy, York Gas, Yorkshire Electricity and Northern Electricity.
RWE npower operates a portfolio of flexible, low-cost oil, gas and coal fired stations. And, through our RWE Power International business, we sell strategic and operational services, addressing the technical, commercial and environmental issues of other power station owners and operators.
npower renewables are pioneers in the development and use of renewable energy sources, with a proud track record in this field.
Already our operations include hydroelectric power stations and a large portfolio of onshore windfarms. We also developed the UK's first major offshore wind farm, North Hoyle, off the North Wales coast, which commenced operation in 2003.
Our cogeneration business, npower Cogen manages around 2,000MW of combined heat and power (CHP) plant. Used at major industrial sites and by other large consumers of energy, CHP plants combine electricity generation with heat for production processes or space warming - with significant efficiency and cost benefits.
We also have a green energy product, Juice, that allows customers to obtain their power solely from clearly identified renewable sources and at no extra cost.
