Diversity & Inclusion
We believe that Diversity & Inclusion is about valuing and responding to the differences between people, not just gender, ethnicity or age, but also 'hidden' differences in background, views, opinions and education. Concentration in this area provides three important benefits: the attraction and retention of talented people from all backgrounds; the ability to understand our customers and their requirements, therefore delivering a high quality service; finally, it encourages our people to come forward with creative ideas, thus fostering a creative spirit in our business.
All of our line managers attend a D&I awareness workshop and all new employees benefit from some form of awareness training. That might be through a workshop, or via our short diversity film, or by working through our dedicated e-learning training tool.
Our intention is to embed D&I into our culture, so that in all of our day-to-day dealings it's natural for everyone to value the views, ideas and needs of their colleagues. We recognise that flexible working and career breaks can be very important and we look for imaginative ways to satisfy such needs, while remaining a successful business.
Our success in creating a positive climate, which gives genuine opportunities, has resulted in us appearing in The Times Top 50 progressive companies Where Women Want To Work, and being highly commended for our work relating to age.
